Newborn Wreath Prop
When setting up newborn sessions with clients, I tend to have a little something that is special just for that baby’s photos. Recently, I made this wreath prop to use for a little girl’s newborn session. I thought it might be helpful to other newborn and child photographers for me to share how I put everything together!
I purchased everything (but the wire cutters) from Michael’s during a great sale period the other day – who could pass up 50% off all flowers?!? Not this girl. Anyways, once home and my children were napping, I starting getting my craft on. I stacked two of the Grapevine wreaths on top of one another so that the actual nest area the baby would be in is deeper. This helps give some depth to the final image. Then, I started cutting the flowers off of the wire stems using a heavy-duty wire cutter from my husband’s toolbox.
Now that all of the prep-work is done I am able to start placing the flowers around the wreath. I decided to start with the lighter purple flowers and evenly arranged them around it. I simply stuck them in the vines and did not use any sort of glue as I wanted to be able to switch it up later on. After the lighter colored flowers were placed, I started mixing in the darker purple flowers. The key is to do what looks good to you. This time for this baby I arranged them evenly around. Next time I may arrange them in such a way that there is a focal point on a particular area of the wreath. Because I didnt affix the flowers in any way, I can switch them out for a different colored flower or greenery… or even moss!!!
